Never Meet Your Heroes?

Updated: May 4, 2020

Over the years, I've read many cases of people meeting their lifelong heroes, only to be bitterly disappointed. Perhaps it is unfair to expect anyone to live up to the impossible standards expected of them by their fans. Nevertheless, it doesn't make it any easier when you excitedly express your lifelong admiration to a particular individual, only for them to be rude or dismissive to you in return. I guess I'm lucky in that regard. Firstly, I have few, if any, heroes. Secondly, the majority of them are dead so I'm very unlikely to ever meet them.

I am a voracious reader, especially when it comes to non-fiction books. Simply put, I want to use and apply the information contained in them to improve the results I get in my life. From most of the books I read, however, I am lucky if there are even a few paragraphs contained in them, which truly add value to my life. One absolute exception to this is my favourite author Robert Greene. Ever since I first read "The 48 Laws Of Power" over 20 years ago, his work has genuinely influenced my life in a very positive way. If you haven't already, be sure to check out "The 48 Laws Of Power", "The 33 Stratgies Of War" and "Mastery".

Robert's latest book is "The Laws Of Human Nature" and is yet another masterpiece. While I haven't yet had the pleasure of meeting him in person, I was lucky enough to interview Robert recently for the Tribe Shift podcast. We spoke at length about his entire career and Robert was extremely gracious and generous with his time.

Below is my interview with Robert. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed recording it.
